Travná/Javorník
We lived in Javorník between 1995 and 1997 but I had been coming to the youthcamps in Travná (a little village 6 km from the little town Javorník:-) since my 12 in 1984, and I never stoped returning back (last time in summer 2018 for 50 years celebrations). I inherited the love for the place from my mum, who came there for one of the first camps in 1968, and passed my passion for it to our Šimon, who is currently a member of the organization team.
The place has very special genius, filled with thousands prayers said here in the course of years.
Just a few permanent inhabitants, few houses - our meetings sometimes doubled the number of people in the village. On the other hand hundreds of people whose lives this place changed.
We learned there how to pray and how to work with jackhammer, how to discuss biblical stories and how to repair electric socket, how to build fellowship and how to build basements.
Wonderful programme mixture of work, deep thoughts, fun, trips in the mountains, prayers, biblical expositions, liturgies, music, sketches, and very personal relationships.
A piece of my finger is built somewhere into the basements.
It is the place where we firstly held our hands with Lýdie.
Lots of inspirational meetings, but also haggling for the house with the imposed director.
Happy childhood and careless youth but also hardships of the responsibilities. Difference between intensive weekend ferment of the youthcamps and uneventful reality of everyday life of the border-town.
And off course inimitable Adolf and Hana Petrovi...
